Historically, Goodrich was first settled in 1835 when Enos, Moses, and Levi Goodrich purchased a thousand acres here and built a cabin. The town was originally was named Atlas, but Reuben Goodrich changed the name to ‘Goodrich’ in 1849. Goodrich was officially incorporated as a village in 1957 and has developed demographically with an increased population which stood at 1,860 people by 2010, according to the United States Census Bureau.

There are 648 households, of which 45.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.9% are married couples living together, 9.7% had a female head of household with no male present, 5.1% had a male head of household with no female present, and 25.3% were non-families. 21.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size and the average family size is 2.83 was 3.33 respectively. The median age in the village is 36.9 years while 32.6% of residents are under the age of 18; 5.6% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 27% were from 25 to 44; 24.5% were from 45 to 64, and 10.3% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the village was 49.7% male and 50.3% female.

This village has a unique mix of occupational and cultural groups, with the neighborhoods posing a family-friendly environment ranked one of the safest in the entire state. Its combination of top public schools, low crime rates, and owner-occupied single family homes make the village a wonderful place to live.

Goodrich is situated on Millpond, part of Kearsley Creek. There is dam is located under the bridge of the main street area. The unique, well-preserved turn-of-the-century style buildings give the town an attractive, historical look.  The village is nearby Shinanguag Lake and parks, offering leisure & recreation opportunities. The cost of living in Goodrich is relatively low, making it a favorable location for residents.
