Byron was first built as a settlement camp in 1842 by Holden White, who also was postmaster at the time and eventually incorporated as a village in 1873. Since then, the population growth of the town has increased to about 582 people, according to the United States census bureau in 2010. The community has retained its friendly, small-town atmosphere over the years, and people that live in Byron love their community.
