Bennett Lake is a large all-sports lake that attaches to the even bigger Lobdell Lake via a channel that runs under Bennett Lake Rd. Bennett Lake does not have public access. This lake is great because it has a mixture of wide-open lake space and a marsh section with canals running through it, making it a great place to kayak. After weaving through the canal, you end up on Lake Hoisington and it also connects to Lobdell Lake. This lake is a great place to spend a hot summer day because the water is clear, the traffic is light, and the bottom is sandy. Unfortunately, the lake does not have a public beach.
Both of these lakes are great places to come water ski because they are not overrun with jet skis and wakeboard boats. The journey through the marsh from Bennett Lake to Lake Hoisington is always fun, especially when you get to go through alligator alley. Now don’t worry, there are no real alligators, one of the lakefront homeowners has taken alligator decoys and placed them in the water so it looks like you are in the swamplands of Florida.
Bennett Lake is approximately 150 acres. If you are out on a boat ride and want to grab lunch or dinner you can always stop at Snappers, a bar on the water. If you go under the bridge from Bennett Lake to Lobdell lake you will find a more upbeat lake crowd. In the winter, Lobdell lake is also a lot of fun.
There are many things to do on Bennett Lake. You can always go ice fishing, ride snowmobiles, and once a year they have the annual chili cook-off that brings over 1000 people to the ice to taste the several different kinds of chili and to party with friends. One of the sponsors for the Lobdell Lake Chili Cook-off is Matt Keway from Icon Mortage Lending. Not only is this a fun event for Matt and Icon to sponsor, but also both the Owner of Icon and Matt live practically within walking distance from where it takes place.
If you are looking to buy a lakefront home in the Fenton or Linden area call Ed Constable, top waterfront realtor at 810-938-3339.
Keep in mind that when trying to buy a waterfront home the market and competition for these homes can be fierce. Sometimes Ed or members of his team will even know about waterfront homes for sale that are not even on the market. If that is something you are interested in please reach out to Ed Constable on his cell phone directly at 810-938-3339.
Special Note: this is not a good chain of lakes to take your expensive speedboats on. I have had several friends mess up their props and lower units on these lakes due to stumps under the water.
